Tsum valley trek is one of the world’s remotest Himalayan Valleys in the Northern part of the Gorkha district which is the Tibetan Buddhist land lying at the edge of one of the most secluded Himalayan valleys of Nepal. Tsum Valley trek in Nepal is a recently opened trekking route in the Manaslu region of mid-western Nepal.

The Nepal government officially opened this trekking route in the year of 2008 for foreign tourists and ever since this area has been quite popular among trekkers who like to get off the ‘beaten trail’ and learn about Tibetan Buddhist culture. The local people are mostly Tibetan origin and practice Tibetan Buddhism.

Tsum Valley Trek Trails are strewn with artistic Chortens and lined with Mani / Prayer walls made of thousands of stone slabs carved with drawings of deities and inscribed with prayers.

The Tsum Valley has a long history of Buddhism. The Buddhist saint Milarepa is believed to be meditated in the caves of these mountains.

Another route is Manasalu trek or Manaslu circuit trek is the most popular trekking route of the Manaslu region and Tsum Valley is situated on the northern part of Gorkha near to Tibetan Border. The development of this sacred valley has been bypassed from the mainstream for centuries because it is located in a remote area and far from the cities. This route was restricted by the government before 2008, which is still on the dark side in comparison to other most popular trekking routes like Annapurna Circuit Trek, Annapurna Base Camp trek, Everest Base Camp Trek (Click for more..). so very few advantageous travelers have made this mysterious valley trek. In addition, there are other trekking routes and the hiking routes in the Manaslu region which are in the dark side due to lack of promotion. One can have a good opportunity to witness the typical ancient Tibetan Buddhist culture, religion, and lifestyle of the people who remain unchanged for centuries.

Furthermore, the unique culture of this valley has remained intact.

This area is still restricted to a limited number of organized groups so independent trekkers are not permitted in this region.

The sum trek is geographically spectacular and culturally fascinating.

The tsum trek starts and ends to Aurughat, Gorkha, which only a few miles away from Kathmandu. During the trek, we will pass through Budhi Gandaki river, alpine forests, Glacier River, with many waterfalls and suspension bridges, through several villages, gompas ( Rachen Gompa, Mu Gompa, Dephyudonma Gompa) monasteries, mani walls, and stupas, and Milarepa’s Cave. where an individual can see an ever-extending mountain range, like Himalchuli (7,893m), Ganesh Himal (7,140m), Manaslu (8,163m), Churke Himal and the Poshyop Glacier.

Highlights of Tsum Valley trek

The Makalu is the fifth highest mountain in the world, And Makalu Base Camp trek is arguably your first-class choice if you are seeking a strenuous adventure followed by soothing views of majestic Himalayas.

This trek is a treasure trove of beauty, for it bears the world’s only protected area the Makalu Barun National Park with an elevation of more than 8000 m. Its staggering flora and fauna with a cornucopia of species, high waterfalls, and mountain peaks will keep you stunned.

In addition to this, you are bound to fall in love with the rivers here—the Arun, the Barun, and the Dudhkoshi among the others are pristine and praiseworthy.

What’s more, the Makalu Base Camp will offer you a rarely savored Kangshung face of Everest which is unparalleled.
It also hosts some of the exclusive creatures, like snow leopard and Himalayan black bear.

The arresting array of things here will not stop amazing you over and over. Despite being magical, and pretty close to the Everest region, the craggy trekking route of the Makalu region is virtually virgin.

The incredibly ravishing area is rich not only naturally—abundantly filled with a myriad of precious plants, and animals, such as snow leopard, wolves, fox, lynx, and beautiful birds—but also culturally.

You will trek along a significantly long route that twists and turns across flat plains of Terai (200 m) having a hot climate to the Makalu Base Camp (4812 m), and covers substantial picturesque natural and cultural heritage of Nepal.

The least visited far-East of Nepal will surely give you a unique experience through its never-seen-before culture, tradition and pastoral life; you will be delighted. The royal views of the south face of the Makalu, as well as the Everest and the Lhotse, will be etched in your heart.

Last but not least, the Sherpas of this region will your heart with their hospitality and splendor.

The Manaslu Trek is one of the arduous treks, and presumably, it is one of the best but less trekked regions in Nepal.
The trek, with its starting location Arughat Bazaar and ending location Besisahar–beautiful locations in themselves, is comparatively less trodden, for it was allowed to trek only 1991 onwards, whose route will offer you a splendid view of ten peaks over 6,500 m. Moreover, along the route, the highest point you will reach is the Lyarka La pass, one of the longest passes in Nepal Himalaya, at an altitude of 5106 m. The Manaslu, in the Manaslu Circuit, is the eighth highest mountain in the world that stands 8163 m above the sea level in Mid-West Nepal. During the course of the trek, the tea houses will serve an immense opportunity to interact with the local people to learn the culture, tradition, and way of life; their innocence and simplicity will prove seductive. The trek traverses along an ancient salt-trading route along the Budi Gandaki river. Thereafter, the silver-white mountain peaks from this region will start mesmerizing you. Further ahead, the double peak Manaslu will reveal to you its glorious and grand presence which might prove an out-of-the-world experience. En route, you will have to go through the forest of lush green towering pine trees where you will be greeted with mellifluous chirps and euphonious psithurism. The trek is a genuine treasure trove, for it will, at no corner, cease to surprise you with varied cultural and natural riches–monasteries, monks and nuns in red robes, the highest village Samdo inhabited by Bhotias in the Budhi Gandaki valley, lofty Cheo Himal, Himlung Himal, and Kang Guru.

The trek, geographically rich and culturally variegated, is not open to independent trekkers, rather to groups led by the trekking companies; in fact, tourism is still controlled.

The trek may be a bit more challenging than usual since it is quite long, and ascending pass and high terrain require and extra effort. Thus, it would be best to be physically fit, but nothing to be intimidated with, for it is neither a competition nor a military training; we can adjust our pace, yet it would be better to come prepared physically.

No intention to intimidate, yet it is a raw reality—the Upper Dolpo Trek is not advisable to the maiden trekkers, since the trail ascends and descends precipitous hills and three high passes over 5,000 m, and on top of that, camping is the only way to spend the night; it is unbelievably remote, modernity has not even its meager presence, but it is fantastically alien that will overwhelm your sense of being. Your mind will be blown.

To some extent, you must be experienced and sort of intrepid to take on the Upper Dolpo Trek which is absolutely worthwhile because, in addition to colossal hills and landscapes, it will present you with some of the antiquated monasteries—one being the Shey Gompa, an 800-year-old monastery at the foot of the Crystal Mountain—and rare wildlife, like musk deer, Himalayan blue sheep and snow leopard in the Nepal’s largest national park the Shey Phoksundo National Park.

Besides, a lake of the same name the Shey Phoksundo Lake will tantalize you with its grandiose, its aquamarine presence is arresting. The Dolpo region, which is almost exclusively Tibetan in its culture, tradition, and language, will deluge you with its wilderness, the wilderness in the literal sense.

The Dolpo region, bordering with Tibet, does not permit independent trekkers; rather only the organized groups with guides.

The region is rudimentarily modern, and its trek begins from Juphal after flying from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, and finally Nepalgunj to Juphal.

The Upper Dolpo region, remaining closed to visitors until 1989, is a world in its own—alienated and aloof, nevertheless, wildly spectacular with verdant to arid landscapes, the view of the Mt. Kanjirowa among other amazing peaks, the Dhaulagiri massif. The region is remote, but its riches are unrivaled—the Shey Phoksundo National Park harbors rare and exotic flora and fauna, and whatnot.

Upper Dolpo is thinly populated with happy, humble and amiable people. They will win you with their hospitality.
And last but not least, this trek is a dare, but we can claim that it is the reason you want to make it, and you should. It is more than worthwhile, so do join us to explore the insane wilderness, together we will create a lifetime memento.

We know you want to spend some time in absolute wilderness, far from modern settlements. For this, the Lower Dolpo trek in the Dolpo region is unequivocally your brilliant choice. Located in western Nepal, it is a high altitude region in the upper part of the Dolpa district.

Archaic and exotic, the region is culturally Tibetan. It is very thinly populated, and its people are the followers of the Bon—an animistic religion that predates Buddhism.

Lower Dolpo trek is evidently the lower part of Dolpo, sandwiched between the Dhaulagiri range and the Tibetan plateau. The trek begins from Juphal—first the flight will take you from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, and from there you will be taken to Juphal by next flight. Thus, your trekking adventure will take the charge from here.

The trail traverses across varied landscapes—meadows, pine and oak forests, arid to semi-arid region. You will be surrounded by rolling hills and snowcapped mountains. The thrill will increase with the steps!

The trek is pertinent to high altitude trekkers, and even if you are not one such but audacious, you can make it only to find exotic animals, such as blue sheep and snow leopard in the Shey Phoksundo National Park.

In addition to this, you will be spellbound by the gleaming cobalt-blue Shey Phoksundo Lake. Furthermore, the Numala Pass and the Bagala Pass at 5115 m and 5100 m respectively are also its major attractions from where you will have a majestic view of the Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167 m) and the Tibetan ranges the Kugung La and the Khyung La.

The region’s Eastern and the Southern parts appear supernal with the Dhaulagiri, the Nilgiri, the Kyangyu, the Ripa and the Annapurna range. Moreover, you will cross the passes to reach the Dho Tarap village at 4040 m.

Lower Dolpo trekking is not the only natural, but also culturally exotic, since the people here have close to the Tibetan way of life, and the religion they follow is animistic Bon Po, predating traditional Buddhism.

The trek is convenient in a way that the trail is always scant with the trekkers, for independent trekkers are not allowed and on top of that, a special permit is required from the government of Nepal. And, what furthers the ease the simplicity, hospitality and the kindness of villagers.
This all is going to make your trek truly special—a lifetime experience of beauty and boldness, a remote world and wilderness! A worthwhile experience.

Once in a while, it is vehemently important to rupture your daily quotidian cycle and lose yourself into a rapturous rhapsody of Nature, It is to actualize something bigger and better is out there, and for this, the trek is a popular way. This time here, you have perfectly chosen the Simikot – Rara Lake Trek.

The lake Rara is rhapsodic—its placid presence and aquamarine appearance are likened to a rhapsody. Appropriately it is the deepest and biggest freshwater lake in the far North-West of Nepal; the lake is a part of the smallest national park the Rara National Park.

The trek to the lake at an altitude of 2990 m begins after landing at the Simikot Airport. The flight will be from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, and Nepalgunj to the aforementioned airport.

Right from the beginning, you will be uplifted by lush landscapes, colorful culture, and friendly folks.

The Rara National Park along with the Rara Lake is home to some ecologically important flora and fauna. Moreover, it has some rare species, and the entire ecosystem has uniquely evolved into something significant; consequently, it has some species endemic to Nepal—Nepalese snow trout, Rara snow trout, Rara Lake frog are a few of them.

On top of that, you might luckily be able to view some beautiful migratory birds. It will be an otherworldly experience.

The craggy route with sporadic ups and downs peacefully and jubilantly shrouded in the serenity of pine, juniper, and spruce is quite ethereal. The view of snow-capped peaks is not less magical. You will be swept away.

Furthermore, trekking ahead all the way to Jumla eventually adds extra adventure, more thrills. This region, too, is culturally and naturally prodigious—rolling hills, evergreen forests, snow capped mountains and so forth; and the people of this region practice the Bonpo, and intriguingly pre-Buddhist shamanism.

The region is remote and rustic. The people are peace-loving and kind; their hospitality is something to be admired.

The Simikot-Rara Lake Trek is more than worthwhile. Through the trek and travel, we discover our own vast and missing selves, something grander than the diminished daily chore.

So let’s walk together. We would like to be a part of your amazing adventure.

The third highest mountain in the world, the Kanchenjunga, with an elevation of 8,586 m, lies between Nepal and Sikkim, India. Its three of the five peaks soar up directly on the border, while the other two in Nepal’s Taplejung District. In fact, the literal meaning of Kanchenjunga is ‘five great treasures of snow’.

This remote but wondrous region is not much explored, which is the reason why you are suggested to discover the pure and pristine treasure trove of picturesque delights and rocky terrain. Its trekking duration is designed in such a way that you can profusely absorb every bit of its beauty. What makes it all the more tempting to adventure seeker is its permission to trekking—only since 1988, due to which the ambiance of freshness will appeal to your senses of sight and smell.

The trek, which commences from Tplejung, takes you from tropical lowlands to the high glaciers and the majestic peaks of the Kanchenjunga, the Kambachen, the Yalung Kang and the Jannu. The highest point of the trek will be the Pang Pema (5,140 m). Standing atop it to view the whitish landscapes will be quite an ethereal experience. To get to that point you will pass through verdant terraced fields and lush green forests. On the way, the quaint traditional villages will be the best of the things with expansive people.

The trail, going northwards to Ghunsa followed by an ascent to the Kanchenjunga Base Camp, and continuing to the Yalung Base Camp, go through the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area—one of the least densely populated areas in Nepal—is home to the endangered snow leopard and red panda, vulnerable Himalayan Black bear, clouded leopard, and Assamese macaque. There are more than enough to entice you.
Justifiably, one of the most exotic aspects is ethnicity—predominantly the Rai and the Limbu. They are culturally rich and sufficient.

All in all, this one-month trek is so for all the right reasons. It has so much to offer that you wouldn’t want to miss. And we are here to make it happen in the best way possible. Please, do contact us.
