Our love for nature is inherent. Integral to us is our nostalgia for it. Our modern history is pretty young, in comparison to entire human history when we used to be nomads. And therefore we are sort of always on the lookout to find nature in its vastness, in its wilderness. Here comes the country like Nepal whose plains, hills, valleys, plateaus, and mountains make one feel nature’s vehemence. Nepal’s wilderness has been categorized into different regions to make your trekking, climbing, and expeditions manageable and effective. One such region adulated for trekking is the Annapurna Region.
It is one of the most popular and diverse trekking regions in Nepal. It will take you into the heart of the high mountains of Nepal, offering you dramatic mountain scenery, alpine deserts, rice terraces, the Tibetan plateau, turbulent rivers, deep gorges, lakes, waterfalls, and a wide variety of vegetation. The region offers a trek as short as three-day to a full three-week Annapurna Circuit, and several routes in between. The Annapurna Circuit Trek circles the Annapurna Range. The Kali Gandaki River Trek will bring you up the world’s deepest valley, and the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek will take you to the Annapurna Base Camp.
The mountain ranges in this region include the Annapurna I to the west of which lies the Dhaulagiri. Both areas are tall as 8,000 meters. And between these mountains lies the valley of the Kali Gandaki River. The scene is undeniably eye-catching. Other peaks in the Annapurnas include the Nilgiri and the Machhapuchhre.
The region is rich not only with snow-clad mountains and lush forests but also with culturally diverse ethnic communities. It makes the region all the more exciting and tempting. Moreover, the Annapurna Conservation Area is also located here.
Annapurna is a subrange of the Himalaya in which the Annapurna I with an altitude of 8,091 meters is the 10th highest peak in the world.
