Moreover, the region lies inside the Sagarmatha National Park which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park makes the region all the more appealing, since you will be walking through forests with exotic flora and fauna. The landscape is largely composed of rugged terrain and gorges of the high Himalayas. Besides the Mt. Everest, other peaks adding to the beauty of the region are the Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Thamserku, Nuptse, Amadabalam and Pumori.
Lower zone is forested with birch, juniper, blue pines, firs, bamboo and rhododendron whereas the upper is with shrubs, and further increase in altitude gives life merely to lichens and mosses. You will be delighted to view birds like Himalayan monal, blood pheasant, red-billed chough, and yellow-billed chough.
